If its not enough by allowing its users to share anything and everything,
Starting today, Facebook is rolling out a new feature that will let you listen to music along with your Facebook friends.
Facebook is making this possible via the new “Listen With” feature, which, according to a post on the official Facebook blog by product designer Alexandre Roche, which will allow for an enriching musical experience akin to a gang going out together to visit a dance club or watch a concert.
“You can listen to the same song at the exact same time—so when your favorite vocal part comes in you can experience it together, just like when you’re jamming out at a performance or dance club,” he said.
Facebooks CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at a developer conference last year “Being able to click on someone’s music and play it is a great experience, but knowing that you helped a friend discover something new … is awesome,”
As with all Facebook features you will be able to control with whom he or she is listening and vice-versa.
Turning the feature on is easy. According to Roche, the feature will be denoted by a music note located in the chat sidebar, which allows one to see who among friends are listening to music at a given time.
To listen in, one simply hovers his cursor over their friend’s name, and clicks the “Listen With” button. The music will play through the service the friend is using. The user will also have the option to chat about the music he or she is listening to. Other people listening along can also join in a group chat.
